Introduction

Together, the FNHA, FNHC, and FNHDA make up three key pillars that are rooted in a shared vision of healthy, self-determining, and vibrant BC First Nation children, families, and communities. These organizations follow guidance from First Nations Chiefs and leaders, who articulated the Seven Directives as foundational standards for First Nations health governance in BC.

This Policy Making Guidebook was developed with these goals in mind, and supports Goal 1 and Objective 1.3 from the FNHDA’s Strategic Plan 2023–2026: to increase the skills and capacity of Health Directors in achieving excellence.🧠 Quick Reflection: Your Role in Policy

How do your responsibilities as a Health Director intersect with the broader vision of the FNHA, FNHC, and FNHDA? Where do you see opportunities to align your policy work with these directives?
